Hurricane Wilma caught us by surprise last October, when for the first time in memory a storm came though our area much WORSE than predicted. Usually it’s a case of the weatherman crying wolf. Not this time. Just the opposite
Wilma tore the roof off our building. We thought we could save the interior, but days and days of heavy rains ruined what little the original storm had spared.
All of the offices were flooded, ceilings and walls soaked.
Other than the concrete block walls, it ended up a total loss.
You may remember for a few weeks after the storm, our staff camped out in Michael Masterson’s garage office, where we sent out “minimalist” daily ETR’s.

On the second day, Michael Masterson sent the following ETR message:
“A few months ago I had purchased a 17.5 kilowatt, natural-gas powered generator and installed it at my house. It feeds electricity to the guest cottage, my private office which sits above the garage and our wine cellar (I have my priorities.) By yesterday afternoon, we had a skeleton staff working from there. (The phone is also working – miraculously!)
And by today, this Thursday morning, we had virtually the entire staff – less one employee we haven’t found yet – working away to keep ETR going.

We are splitting into two shifts. Each team works half the day in this little office (You would laugh if you could see us sitting together -- knee to knee, (Jon Herring sitting in the bathroom on the toilet lid) – everyone working assiduously, giving one another advice, hints, help, whatever is called for.
Pizza is on the house and spirits are amazingly good. “
Sure it was kind of fun at first, but working from a cramped couch with a laptop on your knees got old - and inefficient - fast.
But now, there’s good news. After months of living like refugees in our own town, we’re set to move into the totally rebuilt “old building”.
And it’s going to be better than ever...

Completely new roof, walls, electrical, A/C, plumbing, you name it.
